In case you missed it, Sunday nights premiere of Game of Thrones featured the highly-anticipated Ed Sheeran cameo. He plays a brief role as a scruffy Lannister soldier that Arya Stark stumbles upon in the woods. The show’s creators David Benioff and DB Weiss announced that the singer would make an appearance at South By Southwest Festival panel in Austin, Texas.
Sheeran sings a few lines from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of books. The song is unofficially titled “Hands of Gold,” that is sung by Symon Silis Tongue in the novels.
Past musicians who have appeared in Game of Thrones Seasons include members of Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Mastodon, Of Monsters and Men, and Sigur Rós.
His Instagram account has a story to tell too:
The HBO series will reach its conclusion in the final season next year and the showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed that the Game of Thrones’ Final Season is going to be very, very short.
