Netflix Documentary Reveals How Eccentric Jim Carrey Is About Acting

In 1999, Jim Carrey portrayed his idol Andy Kaufman in “Man on the Moon.” For twenty years, the behind-the-scenes footage has been withheld…until now. Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond – With a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton premieres November 17th on Netflix.

Carrey received critical acclaim for his performance as Kaufman who was known for his comedic artistry and Carrey won a Golden Globe, his second win in a row after receiving an award for The Truman Show.

The Great Beyond sees Carrey reflecting on the footage. The behind the scenes was shot by his girlfriend at the time Lynne Margulies and writing partner Bob Zmuda. And now its here almost 20 years later!

“Andy felt it was necessary to stay in the character. Universal didn’t want the footage we took behind the scenes to surface so people wouldn’t think I was an a**hole.”

“I was thinking how far should I take this,” says Carrey in the trailer.

The documentary hits Netflix on November 17.
