Lego announced on Wednesday the release a “Women of NASA” set. The set will go on sale on November 1 and is priced at $24.99.
“Women of NASA” features four mini figurines of pioneering women from the space agency: the astronauts Sally Ride and Mae Jemison, the astronomer Nancy Grace Roman, and the computer scientist Margaret Hamilton. The set also features builds illustrating the areas of expertise of the 4 featured women of NASA.
Maia Weinstock, deputy editor at MIT News, submitted her idea for the kit to Lego’s Ideas community. Weinstock’s idea received more than 10,000 votes!! And now here it is:
Each set will come with 231 pieces
Sally Ride- astronaut, physicist, and entrepreneur will come in a 1980s training flight suit.
Nancy Grace Roman – 92, astronomer and teacher also known as “Mother of Hubble”.
The space shuttle includes the solid rocket boosters, the main fuel tank and the orbiter ( from left to right).
Mae Jemison – astronaut, physician, and engineer will come in a 1990s space shuttle flight suit.
Margaret Hamilton – a computer scientist and entrepreneur.
Hamilton gets the first look at herself as a plastic figurine.
