Hasan Minhaj’s Netflix Special: ‘Homecoming King’, is more than a Stand-up Comedy Film

A show that has taken standup comedy to a whole new level – humor that is personal and holds a clear message.  This year’s White House Correspondents Dinner host Hasan Minhaj’s film ‘Homecoming King’ hit Netflix and quickly became one of the most absorbing and charming stand-ups of the year.

Minhaj, born and raised in California, majored in political science and soon took to standup comedy. He landed a gig as a special correspondent in the Daily Show which suited both his passion and background. Minhaj was the featured speaker at the 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which is traditionally attended by the president and covered by the news media. Trump was a no-show at the event and that was enough material for Minhaj’s POTUS roast.

“The news coming out of the White House is so stressful, I’ve been watching ‘House of Cards’ just to relax.”

Minhaj’s one man show, Homecoming King, is wonderfully illustrated with humorous and heartbreaking stories from his childhood as a first generation Indian-American Muslim.

Navigating between two worlds, it follows Minhaj’s arrival in the US, meeting his sister, interracial love, racism, bullying, and his family’s quest to achieve the elusive American Dream.

At the end of the film you are sure to find a new comedy hero, a perfect storyteller and a plain-speaking realist. You can start obsessing now!
