Game of Thrones new casting decision for season eight spoils an amazing fan theory.
It has been reported by, Watchers on the Wall (home to a group of experienced writers and fandom contributors) that actor Marc Rissmann has been cast in the role of Harry Strickland, the leader of the Golden Company mercenary group in the upcoming season.
The casting news comes as a shock to fans who have been hoping for a reunion between Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Daario Naharis (Michiel Huisman), her former lover before Jon Snow. The theory went that Daario would be the inside man and pretend to work with the Lannisters to bring them down – however, Marc Rissmann’s casting seems to put an end to this theory. Daario was introduced in season three when he killed the leaders of the Second Sons mercenary group. Daenerys and Daario got into each other after he pledged his allegiance to her, but at the end of season six, Daario and the Second Sons stayed behind in Meereen to keep the peace.
Could the Golden Company betray Cersei in order to follow a Targaryen leader. We will just have to wait and watch.
