Amazon Will Deliver Packages Inside Your Home Now

For most of us, the concerning thing about online shopping is scheduling the delivery time and dates. Amazon is on top of it and released a service called Amazon Key that launches November 8 for Prime members.

This is not a drill. Amazon packages will be securely delivered just inside your front door. Plus, you can also grant access to the people you trust, like your family, friends, dog walker, or house cleaner. That means no more leaving a key under the mat.

Amazon Key is exclusively for Prime members and is being rolled out in select cities. To get started, you need to purchase the Amazon Key In-Home Kit, starting at $249.99. The kit includes the Amazon Cloud Cam, the indoor security camera and a compatible smart lock from Kwikset or Yale.

On delivery day, Amazon will notify you just before the delivery. Amazon will authorize the delivery and unlock your door. You can watch the delivery live in the Amazon Key App or see a video of it later. Once the package is placed next to your door Amazon will notify you once the delivery is complete and your door is relocked.

It’s not the first major retailer to experiment with remote delivery access. We’d be lying if we told you that we were not excited for this to reach Dubai.
